L.K. Advani aide Kulkarni sent to Tihar Jail : Cash-for-vote scam

New Delhi: Sudheendra Kulkarni, a former adviser to senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader LK Advani was Tuesday sent to judicial custody until 1 October 2008 cash-for-votes scandal.Kulkarni that appeared Sangita Dhingra Sehgal Special Judge, after repeatedly failing to do so on September 6 and 19 September because he was the American who was sent to Tihar jail. 


He had applied for an interim bail, was right on 19 was rejected.The September Kulkarni Council warned that if he failed to show up the next day the court issued an arrest warrant against him.Speaking Kulkarni told reporters here that he worked as a whistle blows, and his goal was to expose corruption of the Congress party- led government. 


"I was the mastermind, who revealed the scam of corruption and no matter what I did was right, because it is an important public interest in the country to know that when its members are elected them have been bought up by giving them Rs. 10 or 20 crores When our MPS and MLAs would have bought like this what would be the future of democracy in India? It was our duty to expose what I did, "Kulkarni said. 


Kulkarni also said that he was not afraid to go to prison if a court found him guilty. "Now the question is that who the real beneficiary of this scam, because the government had received all the benefits of this scam and seized power. But after three years, the government representatives who were involved in fraud roaming with impunity, and those who tried to leave were detained. If the court were to send me to jail, I'm ready, "he said. 


He also said he has "nothing to hide." "I'm not running from anyone," he added. "I'm ready to go to prison if the crime of exposing corruption," he said.The money-votes scam had rocked proceedings in the Lok Sabha in 2008, when the ruling UPA government led by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, the alleged bribery of legislators other parties in confidence to win the vote.
