Boeing Dreamliner becomes reality : After 3-year wait

SEATTLE - Boeing 787 Dreamliner long-awaited became a commercial reality on Sunday, signed the U.S. plane maker a definitive agreement to offer the world's first lightweight composites jets to its Japanese customers.


Boeing says the plastic-based structures creates a 20 percent fuel savings of All Nippon Airways and other airlines, passengers and the cabin air more comfortable to ride, and electronically controlled high windows.The aircraft were delivered to three years behind schedule after prolonged delays that cost Boeing billions of dollars.


$ 200 million long-haul aircraft, which boasts a new design for a graceful raked wing tips, will leave Japan on Tuesday and equipment installation at home on Oct. 26.Boeing has sold over 800 Dreamliner, which will compete in the future Airbus A350 due in mid-decade.


The anticipated transfer came a week after the first delivery of a second major - 747-8 Cargo ships - was abruptly postponed because the contract dispute customer.After series of glitches to the introduction of new aircraft, Boeing faces the challenge of achieving the goal to increase the monthly production of 10 aircraft in 2013, analysts say.
